Scoliosis Surgery This 13 year old girl from saharanpur , Uttar pradeshpresented to us with progressive deformity of back for last few years. There was significant shift of body to one side with with shoulder imbalance. She also had a right sided rib hump. Her xray showed right sided scoliosis with cobb angle of 85 degrees. Her MRI showed multiple fused vertebrae from D6 to D9 at apex of curve with a fused bar. She also had a low lying tethered cord. As a first step she underwent Dethetering followed by scoliosis surgery 3 months later. Surgery was done under neuromonitoring and involved osteotomy at multiple levels with pedicle screw/ rod insertion. Post surgery she was in ICU for 1 day and discharged after 4 days. There was significant improvement both clinically and radiologically in trunk & shoulder imbalance and rib hump.
