Scoliosis Surgery - Vertebra Column Resection (VCR) for Congenital Kyphoscoliosis Of all spine surgeries, VCR for kyphoscoliosis is the most challenging one, needing proper planning and execution. Presenting here a case of 15 year old girl from Kyrgyzstan who came to us with severe deformity of back along with pain. Deformity had been there since early childhood and was gradually progressing. On xray she had severe kyphoscoliosis with apex at dorsolumbar juction. On measurement angular Kyphosis was around 100 deg. CT scan showed abnormal fused vertebrae D11 to L1 at apex with significant roation. MRI did not show any intraspinal anomaly. We did Posterior Vertebral Column Resection (PVCR) under Neuromonitoring. After Pedicle screw fixation and laminectomy fused vertebrae at the apex were excised. An expandable cage along with bone graft was placed anteriorly to fill the gap. Pt was extubated same day and kept in ICU for 1 day. She was mobilised on Day 2 and discharge on Day 5 post surgery. Xray showed significant correction in deformity and clinical correction was also satisfactory.
