TB Spine in children This Girl presented to me 2 years back, then 5 year old , with weakness in legs and inability to walk for 2 months. She was a known case of TB of Spine and already on TB medication for 2 months from a different hospital. Her MRI showed complete destruction of D10 vertebrae with dislocated spine and severe cord compression. In view of significant deformity and weakness, I advised immediate surgery and her parents agreed. However, her case was challenging because of significant dislocation, young age and small vertebrae. I operated upon her - did Laminectomy, pedicle screw fixation to realign the spine and anterior column reconstruction with cage and bone graft. She started showing improvement immediately post surgery and was walking in 2 weeks. She completed her 9 months of ATT . Now 7 year old and after 2 year of surgery she is absolutely normal, disease free and doing all her activities without any physical limitations. This case shows that in children with TB spine, timely surgery, when indicated, can prevent future deformities with healed disease which are actually difficult to treat. #TBspine #Spinesurgery #drpramodsaini
